With Independence Day around the corner, firework displays are being planned to commemorate the historical signing of the Declaration of Independence announcing the American colonies separation from Britain in 1776.

What happened on July 4th, 1776 and why should it be celebrated?

Going back two centuries ago, a document called the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Second Continental Congress. The Congress has been in favor of independence from Great Britain as of July 2nd but could not complete the revising process of the document until the following two days. This document announced the 13 American colonies separation and freedom from Great Britain. With the eloquent line of “all Men are created equal,” the Declaration of Independence is beloved by the people of America. Thus, on June of 1870, Congress passed a law making Independence Day a federal holiday.

"One flag, one land, one heart, one hand, One Nation evermore!"
